RESEARCH
Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) is currently a major policy preoccupation.  The use that jihadi groups are making of social media, including Twitter, YouTube and Facebook, to disseminate extremist messages is of particular concern.  The messages draw heavily on popular culture, from slickly edited Hollywood-style movies to Instagram accounts full of selfies and cat pictures.  This research explores the responses the grassroots responses to this material, investigating the processes at play.
